1) Elvis Presley Quotes:

"I wasn't exactly a James Bond in Movies, but then no one ever asked Sean Connery to sing a song while dodging bullets."

"Without preamble, the three-piece band cuts loose. In the spotlight, the lanky singer flails furious rhythms on his guitar, every now and then breaking a string. In a pivoting stance, his hips swing sensuously from side to side and his entire body takes on a frantic quiver, as if he had swallowed a jackhammer."

Time Magazine,
May 15, 1956

"His kind of music is deplorable, a rancid smelling aphrodisiac...It fosters almost totally negative and destructive reactions in young people."
Frank Sinatra,

Lisa Marie Quotes

∙ For some reason, when I turned 30 I became a teenager again and it wasn't really by my own will, it just happened. I married and had my first baby at 21, so I had it together early on. But I started acting about 15 again when I turned 30. So I guess that makes me 19 now.

∙ Having kids was the smartest thing I've ever done. They're little sponges who come into the world with a clean, shiny slate and such pureness. I'm interested in having more kids.

∙ How many people have a family grave in the backyard? I'm sure I'll end up there, or I'll shrink my head and put it in a glass box in the living room. I'll get more tourists to Graceland that way.

2) Elvis Presley & other Legends

Movies by Elvis Presley

In late 1955, Presley made his earliest known film appearance in a documentary entitled The Pied Piper of Cleveland, a look at the career of disc jockey Bill Randle.

The film, (which reportedly included performance footage of Elvis as well as Bill Haley and His Comets and other acts), was shown in its entirety only once (in Cleveland) and was never released commercially.

The film is currently considered "misplaced" and some Presley researchers maintain it never existed, although there is ample evidence to suggest it did.

Beginning with Love Me Tender (opened on November 15, 1956), Presley starred in 31 motion pictures, having signed to multiple long-term contracts on the advice of his manager. These were usually musicals based around Presley performances, and marked the beginning of his transition from rebellious rock and roller to all-round family entertainer.

Elvis was praised by all his directors, including the highly respected Michael Curtiz, as unfailingly polite and extremely hardworking.

Perhaps the biggest letdown of his film career was when Colonel Parker made him give up the lead role in the film version of West Side Story.

Elvis was approached at first by the producers, being their favorite choice, out of several leading men like Warren Beatty, Anthony Perkins, Richard Chamberlain, Tab Hunter, Bobby Darin, Gary Lockwood, and Troy Donahue.

He originally wanted to play the role, but Parker insisted he pull out to star in the unusual musical films he was accustomed to.

From 1960 to 1961, the total box office earnings of his movies during that time were $100 million, but he was upset upon learning that West Side Story was a huge hit and earned ten Academy Awards.

Till the end of his life, Elvis never forgave the Colonel for his loss, and he never watched his films, which were, according to him, travellogue movies with no plot but exotic locales.

The movies Jailhouse Rock (1957), King Creole (1958), and Flaming Star (1960) are widely regarded as his best among film critics. Among fans, Blue Hawaii (1961) and Viva Las Vegas (1964) are also highly praised.

In addition to his own films, Presley has been the subject of more than seventy films that have his name in the title.

4) Favourite Elvis song Lyrics for
"Heartbreak Hotel"

This new feature of our ezine is for karaoke superstars & the fans that just like to sing-along with the King.

(words & music by Mae Axton — Tommy Durden — Elvis Presley)

Well, since my baby left me,
I found a new place to dwell.
Its down at the end of lonely street
At heartbreak hotel.

You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

And although its always crowded,
You still can find some room.
Where broken hearted lovers
Do cry away their gloom.

You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

Well, the bell hops tears keep flowin,
And the desk clerks dressed in black.
Well they been so long on lonely street
They aint ever gonna look back.

You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

Hey now, if your baby leaves you,
And you got a tale to tell.
Just take a walk down lonely street
To heartbreak hotel.

5) Party Planner tips:
"How to Plan a Cocktail Party"

This new feature of our ezine is a bonus home entertaining guide for all you party animals.

If you want to throw a fashionable party, then you might as well be talking about a cocktail party.

Okay, beer and other alcoholic drinks are recognized as party staples but nothing beats the elegance of mixed drinks.

Nothing does.

The good thing about a cocktail party is it is a hodgepodge of varied guests from the busy entrepreneurs to your friends next door.

Lasting for about two hours, the guests will find themselves really socializing in such a setting.

So do you have any plans of holding your own cocktail party?

Remember that a great deal of planning is needed.

Here are some tips:

1. Select guests carefully.

Here's a tip: invite a variety of people.

Don't just stick to the preppies, throw in some of the jocks or professionals as well.

Such diversity will attract greater and more interesting conversations.

2. Plan the menu and shop right away.

Shop also for the decors and other paper items that you will need for the party.

Stuff like flowers should only be bought on the day of the party itself.

3. Determine if you will need a caterer.

If the cocktail party is going to be huge, then a caterer comes in handy, so you can spend the time with your guests.

Be sure you choose the finest and most affordable caterers around.

4. Ask yourself if you also need a bartender.

A large cocktail party might necessitate the presence of one.

5. Decorate a day before the party.

Decorating will take a lot of time and effort so devote a day for it.

Make sure the pieces of furniture are out of the way.

6. Never forget the following details:

a. Setting the centerpiece and floral arrangements

b. Preparing the salad

c. Choosing the party soundtrack

d. Loading the player

e. Preparing the beverages.

7. Prepare and open the wine an hour before the party.

Other than that, be sure the hors d'oeuvres are all taken out.

8. Look out for things you might have overlooked.

Out of getting too preoccupied, you might have forgotten some things.

9. Look great.

As the host, you must look fab.

Thirty minutes to an hour before the guests start coming in, get dressed and get gorgeous.

10. Have fun!

This is the most important part of the cocktail party planning process.

Cocktail party planning takes a lot of planning and fun attitude.

So if you are up for it, hold your own!
