1) Elvis Presley Quotes:

"I just fell into it, really. My daddy and I were laughing about it the other day. He looked at me and said, 'What happened, El.? The last thing I can remember is I was working in a can factory, and you were driving a truck.' We all feel the same way about it still."  — Elvis
from "Spotlight on the Arts" August 1987 by Thurston Moore

"Elvis was a Teddy Bear, a very physical, loving person who hugged a lot, and a perfect gentleman. ... ...If you don't watch yourself, he calls you 'ma'am'."
- Mary Tyler Moore, TV Guide, Sept. 19, 1970

(Thank you Mario for sharing these two quotes with us.)

Lisa Marie Quotes

I was quite the spoiled brat. I have quite a temper, obviously inherited from my father, and I became very good at ordering everyone around. I was the princess; the staff were absolutely terrified of me.

I was very much a daddy's girl, and was pretty tyrannical when he was sleeping. If I could get into trouble, I would. I didn't have a lot of respect for those people because I saw a lot of debauchery and decadence going on. People trying to hid it from me, but I was onto them.

I was very protective of my father and I didn't like these people who hung around outside all day. They creeped me out.

2) Elvis Presley & other Legends

King Creole

1958, June 4, While Elvis training in the Army at Fort Hood, Texas "King Creole: was released by Paramount. (Danny Fisher)

King Creole is remembered as one of Elvis Presley’s best movies, and is probably the only one that was ever taken seriously by the critics, the good reviews of the movie filled Elvis with deep satisfaction and accomplishment, which would stay with him right up until his mothers sudden death.

King Creole is a 1958 Elvis Presley film and soundtrack based on the 1952 Harold Robbins novel, A Stone for Danny Fisher.

It tells the story of a young, tough musician making his way in New Orleans.

It was adapted for the screen by Herbert Baker and directed by Michael Curtiz, famous for Casablanca. It was the fourth of Presley's films. Most critics call King Creole his best film and best performance.

Because the more serious and gritty film strayed from the pretty scenery/pretty girls plotless formula that the legions of Presley fans wanted, it was less than a smash at the box office.

The film also featured some of Presley's hardest rocking film song performances, including the title song, and "Hard-Headed Woman" written by Claude Demetrius.

The song "Trouble", a performance that alluded to Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley, was written by songwriting team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Presley used "Trouble" in his tremendously successful December 3, 1968 television comeback special.

"Hard Headed Woman" was the soundtrack's biggest hit, going to No. 1 on Billboard magazine pop chart.

"Trouble" was also recorded by Glenn Danzig, frontman for the Misfits, Samhain and Danzig, and appears on the album Thrall: Demonsweatlive and as a demo recording on the Final Descent re-release.

Just pretend

This new feature of our ezine is for karaoke superstars & the fans that just like to sing-along with the King.

(words & music by Flett — Fletcher)

Just pretend, I`m holding you
And whispering things soft and low
And think of me, how it`s gonna be,
Just pretend I didn`t go
When I walked away, I heard you say
If you need me, you know what to do
I knew it then, I`d be back again
Just pretend I`m right there with you
And I`ll come flying to you, oh yes
All the crying is true
Oh, I will hold you and love you again
But until then, well just pretend
Oh, it`s funny but I can`t recall the things
We said or why you`re crying

But now I know it was wrong to go
I belong here by your side
