∙ Elvis Presley: Mike Edwards
It Happened at the World's Fair is a 1963 musical film starring Elvis Presley as a cropdusting pilot.
The motion picture was filmed in Seattle, Washington, site of the Century 21 Exposition, the 1962 World's Fair. The governor of Washington at the time, Albert Rosellini, suggested the setting to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer executives.
The Seattle Center, including the Seattle Center Monorail and the Space Needle, serve as backdrops for several scenes in the film. Security officers pursue Presley and the girl through the fountains at what is now the Pacific Science Center. The truck drives by the largest wooden bridge, the Wilburton Trestle, which is located in Bellevue.
∙ Joan O'Brien: Diane Warren, World's Fair nurse and eventual love interest of Edwards
∙ Vicky Tiu: Sue-Lin, a young girl befriended by Edwards
∙ Yvonne Craig: Dorothy Johnson
∙ H.M. Wynant: Vince Bradley
Kurt Russell had an uncredited speaking role as a boy who Mike Edwards pays 25╒ to kick him, thus giving him a chance to visit Nurse Warren.
Vicky Tiu, sister of entertainer Ginny Tiu, later grew up to be the first lady of Hawaiʻi when she married Governor Benjamin J. Cayetano. It is an example of a positive casting role for an Asian American in the early 1960s.
The soundtrack was recorded at Radio Recorders studios in Hollywood, California in September of 1962 and released as a music album in April of 1963 with the same title as the movie.
The song "One Broken Heart For Sale" has an additional verse in the movie. This verse was cut from album and single release. The verse is : "hey cupid where are you , my heart is growing sadder. That girl rejected me , just when I thought i had her"
